COMING BACK TO JESUS - REDEDICATION

Perhaps you know Jesus but have not been walking with Him.  The following verses and sample prayer can help you make today a fresh start on your journey with Him.

Matthew 18:12,13

“If a shepherd has one hundred sheep, and one wanders away and is lost, what will he do?  Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others and go out into the hills to search for the lost one?  And if he finds it, he will surely rejoice over it more than over the ninety-nine that didn’t wander away!”

John 8:1-11

Jesus returned to the Mount of Olives, but early the next morning He was back again at the Temple.  A crowd soon gathered, and he sat down and taught them.  As he was speaking, the teachers of religious law and Pharisees brought a woman they had caught in the act of adultery.  They put her in front of the crowd.  ‘Teacher,’ they said to Jesus, ‘this woman was caught in the very act of adultery.  The Law of Moses says to stone her.  What do you say?’  They were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him, but Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger.  They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, “All right, stone her. But let those who have never sinned throw the first stones.”  Then he stooped down again and wrote in the dust.  When the accusers heard this, they slipped away one by one, beginning with the oldest until only Jesus was left in the middle of the crowd with the woman.  Then Jesus stood up again and said to her, “Where are your accusers?  Didn’t even one of them condemn you?”  No, Lord she said.  And Jesus said, “Neither do I. Go and sin no more.”

God’s heart is broken whenever His children wander from His path.  He waits and waits for His stray ones to return to Him.  His heart longs for His children to come home.   Some will be burdened with guilt and feel unworthy to come back.  Nobody can undo the past, but everyone can change the future.  Jesus does not stand condemning.  Instead, He reaches out with love.

Two steps are recommended for anyone seeking to get his/her life right with God.  First of all, I recommend that you silently confess his/her sins to the Lord.  Ask the Lord to guide.  Nobody has to rack their brain to find everything they have ever done wrong.  Just pray as God leads.  Then, you can pray a second prayer that is something like the example below.

Sample Re-dedication Prayer

Dear Jesus, You died on the cross for me.  You gave it all.  I am so very sorry that I have not valued this priceless gift as I should and that I have not served you as you desire.  Please forgive me for all of my wrongs.  Please wash me clean once again.  Please set my feet on the right path and help me not to stray.  If I stumble, please pick me up and draw me close to you once again.  I choose you Lord.  I choose you.  Please do in me all that I could never do.  Please fill me afresh with your Holy Spirit and empower me to live for you.  I love you Lord. Thank you for hearing my prayer and answering my prayer. I pray all of these in your precious name, Jesus, amen.
